The project proposes a subtle urban articulation between the sizes existing on the street side and makes use of the site’s morphological characteristics in the center of the block. The project provides for the construction of 2 retail spaces and 13 apartments in the street-side buildings, and 6 single-family houses in the back or interior side of the plot.
The street-side building recreates a continuous streetscape and refers to the rhythms dictated by the existing constructions based on classic apartment-building layout. The sober architecture evokes the typological catalog present in the street in terms of both materiality and proportions. Horizontal lines of force in natural stone connect the buildings to the architectural context. A game of depth of the facing brick, screened at 60cm, adds elements of verticality to the facade. Finally, the alternation of the balconies, almost random, energizes the whole in a simple and modest way.
The 6 single-family houses in the center of the block are located in a generous green space, like an island of freshness in the heart of the city. The size of the houses is limited and fits into the surrounding context in a non-invasive way, relying on the adjoining neighboring walls.
